Welcoming America: A Non-profit dedicated to serving refugees.

You may remember when we asked for submissions to help donate the creation of some amazing images for a nonprofit in need.

Thanks to your input, and out of the 2,000+ applications, DTS chose Welcoming America—an organization that seeks to “connect a broad network of nonprofits and local governments and support and provide assistance to immigrants and refugees.” Below are samples of the stories and images that were created for them.

"In these midwestern communities, immigrants and refugees are given more than a new country to call home, they’re given inclusion and encouragement. ESL classes. Entrepreneurship coaching and business loans. Food. Shelter. Social engagement. Native-born volunteers and professionals are choosing to help their new neighbors because they understand that “all ships rise with the tide.”

And the collaborative spirit is self-rejuvenating. Many of those who have been welcomed are now turning around and welcoming others. They’re bringing new life to previously forgotten streets and aging towns by filling jobs and creating new ones. They’re starting committees, running for public office and serving in our armed forces.

In short, they’re rebuilding America — from the inside out. Not through sensationalized media or through gimmicky marketing but through diligence — putting in the hard work necessary to make something grow:  Dig, seed, feed and harvest. Lend a hand, invite another. Analyze results and repeat. "

What skills can you contribute to those doing good?

Be generous to those in need.

Death to Stock

The Statue of Liberty poem:

“[…] Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
